National Mixed Fours & Over 55 Pairs

National Championships Weekend – Melton Mowbray

Saturday 14th & Sunday 15th March 2026

A fantastic weekend of national competition for Kent bowlers at Melton Mowbray, with strong performances across both the National Mixed Fours and the National Over‑55 Pairs.

🟦 National Mixed Fours – Saturday 14th March

Team: Amanda Doorey, Grace Doorey, Danny Hogben, Michael Doorey

The Kent four put in an excellent showing, finishing second in their group to progress into the knockout stages. They continued their momentum with two strong wins, earning a well‑deserved place in the quarter‑finals.

Their last‑eight match against a powerful Essex side was incredibly close. Level at 7–7 going into the final end, Essex managed to steal a single shot to edge the match:

  • Kent 7 – Essex 8

A narrow defeat, but a superb run from the Kent four.

🟥 National Over‑55 Pairs – Sunday 15th March

Pair: Paul Hutson & Thomas Coles

Paul and Thomas started the day in outstanding form, topping their group to move confidently into the knockout rounds. Their strong play continued throughout the afternoon as they progressed all the way to the national final.

In the final they faced Surrey, who managed to take the title with a 12–8 win:

  • Kent 8 – Surrey 12

Paul and Thomas finish as National Over‑55 Pairs Runners‑Up — a brilliant achievement and a performance to be proud of.
