Starting Friday 15th the short mat bowls world championships took place in Belfast Ireland lasting 3 days. Kent players Jody Frampton, Richard Stagg, Danny Hogben & Gary Best from Norfolk represent England in the fours. Starting on Friday against Canada squeezing an 8-7 victory, losing to Wales 9-7 and winning against Belgium 18-8 putting them in position 4 after day one.
Day 2 started off against Isle of man with a very strong victory of 28-1, carrying on with the strong start beating Norway 38-1 and beating Scotland in the last game 9-6 to see them finish in position 2 after day 2
Day 3 saw England face Ireland managing to keep the good form going they managed to squeeze an 7-6 victory, seeing them face Sweden in the last group game with a big victory of 25-4. This put them top of group A with 14 points and a shot difference of plus 98.
This put England into the semi finals.The draw was done and England had to play the other England four unfortunately the Kent team just losing out to make it into the final.
England had to play the Irish team they played in the group for the 3rd & 4th position. After a very tense match including 5 extra ends, England lost by 1 shot to finish the competition 4th place.
England won the whole tournament as a team, winning the pairs and triples, runners up in the singles & fours
